Boobs after Gastric Bypass Surgery

If you have had Gastric Bypass Surgery you are probably saying, “What Boobs?”. Yes this post is for us ladies who are watching our Boobs slowly go away as we drop the weight.

It is no surprise that when we lose the weight after having Gastric Bypass Surgery that are Boobs will also get smaller – a total no brainer. BUT not only will most us deal with shrinking Boobs we will also have to deal with deflated Boobs – meaning they will shrink, but then we are left with pancakes. Ladies you know what I am talking about !!!

When this starts to happen we ask ourselves – do we go by another bra or just get a pair of tube socks. Yes it can get UGLY.  Of course down the road when you have lost all your weight there are doctor gods – also known as Plastic Surgeons who can re-inflate them, reconstruct them and even lift them back up off the ground, but in the mean time what do we do with them?

Remember that childhood song – Do your Ears hang low? Well to us it now goes like this… Do your Boobs hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow? Can you throw them o’er your shoulder like a continental soldier? Do your Boobs hang low? Unfortunately for the majority of us this will become our new theme song.

As I am posting this I am down just about 50 pounds and have already seen the effects of this crisis and cannot even imagine what will happen after another 50 lbs gone. My Boobs were not all perky prior to surgery due to having nursed 2 kids and gaining so much weight. For me I am happy to see them shrink I am done with the big fat Boobs and I am ok with a smaller set, but smaller is one thing – hanging flaps of skin is another.

I have always had issues finding a bra to fit comfortable with my “DD’s” – those “DD’s” were mostly from the weight though – I never had Boobs that big when I was thin back in the day. So now as they shrink I needed to find a new bra to hold up what I have for the time being. I remember watching an infomercial awhile back for the Genie Bra and thought all my prayers were answered. Honestly I am a sucker for anything on infomercials, they make everything sound good. But really would it do the job?

Not until recently when my bras were getting too big did I remember about it and decide to look them up. So I did that and read lots of great reviews about them. So I figured I would give them a try – what the heck right? I got a flyer in the mail from Bed, Bath and Beyond one week and there they were. It was a sign and the 20% off coupon helped seal the deal – they were $19.99 for a set of 2 and then the discount. So I went to the store to pick it up and found the largest size they had in stock was the 2X – I really needed the 3X. The sizes go by shirt size and at the time I bought them that was too small, but I bought them anyways and figured I would wait and soon would fit in them.

Here is how the sizes work for the Genie Bra:

So just last week or so I tried on my Genie Bra to see if it fit yet and to my surprise it did !!! It is still a tiny bit tight but it holds the twins in and is the most comfortable bra I have ever warn. They do come with pads you can stick in or take out, I take mine out. I was still skeptical that it would hold me in place all day and I would not get the rolling on the band etc…

OK folks the answer to that – the band did not roll, my twins stayed in and it hardly feels like you are wearing a bra. OH and the best part – this bra holds your Boobs were they should be on your chest – it is like I got a lift for under $20 bucks.

Yes I sound like an infomercial myself, BUT when I find a product I love I have to share. While this bra may not work for everyone being it worked for me when I never found a bra to work before says a lot. So I say to any of you out there looking for a new bra to try it out – you can return it if it does not work for you, but I don’t think you will.

I have washed mine several times and it does not change shape and I feel as though I will be able to wear this current size for a while before I have to go down in size again, so even more savings.

There are other bras out there that are similar to the Genie Bra such as the Ahh Bra, Bra-Tastic and of course the many other seamless Nylon/Spandex Bras – but I cannot speak for any of them.

My Genie Bra set came with 2 bras, one in Nude and one Black. They now have new colors available including White, Bright Colors, Neutrals and Pastels.

You can order them online here on Amazon and I have even found great deals here on Ebay. Of course if you have a Bed, Bath and Beyond near you go there with your 20% off coupon !!

So what is next in my future? I am thinking I may have to try out some Pajama Jeans !! lol

I’m thinking of having ye vertical sleeve. I meet with a Nurse in a week. My cup size is a G. I’m
5’8 308lbs. When I was thin I was 179lbs with a DD. I haw always been known for having big boobs. Will they be smaller then that? Are there exercises I can do so there not so flabby?

Geez I hope they shrink – I could not imagine having big boobs like you – lol. As far as exercises go I am not sure. You will most likely have some stretched skin, but nothing a little nip and tuck after you lose the weight could not fix. Lots of luck to you !!!

Thank you! I have this exact problem. I went from a DD to two flaps of skin that just hang there. I literally have old lady cartoon boobs. I have not been able to find a bra that fits right and I’ve been trying to figure out how to find one that works since I don’t know how to measure myself for a bra. It’s not like the traditional way will work anymore. I found a package of 3 on eBay for $14.99 with free shipping and am looking forward to receiving them. I am SO hoping they’ll work and the girls will look good under my shirts again!
